FROM A MASTER TO HER SLAVES

“Written with love to you my children in Christ with whom I hope to share eternity with.”

Ah, mimi pendi kabisa,
umisa watu kwa visa,
pingu fimbo sote tisa,
kumi kichwa kutikiswa,
chuki kwetu kuhamisa,
sisi ndo twasababisa,
polepo’ twabadilisa,
siku moja itakwisa.

I am sorry for it all,
mostly the actions of my sister,
for my fierce brother Paul,
and my wicked husband Victor,
I continue to stand strong,
not just because I am a Vicar,
what we are doing is wrong,
and I sure hope it ends quicker

Don’t stop coming to church,
or stop visiting the doctor,
Although you always leave in a rush,
no need to drag your daughters,
let us give them free lunch,
while they learn from evangelist walker,
so they can grow up knowing such,
that not all of us are monsters.

Haba haba jaza baba,
I screem to the boys fishing at the harbor,
penda roho hula mbichi,
I tell the little girls feeling itchy,
yeye juu subiri chini,
I plead to hungry mothers feeling skinny,
dali ya mvua wawingu,
I sing to angry men to slow down their coup.

Sometimes I feel confused,
evaluating the purpose of my mission,
my Holy teachings are misused,
and there is corruption of my vision,
the word of God they abuse,
by saying our race is purpose-driven,
I ask is it all just a ruse?
For if it is then to us hell will be a given.

Jesus Christ loves you,
adores you, and hears you,
From the bellies of your mothers,
he knew all not a few of you,
Do not let evil corrupt you,
or his messengers distract you,
Always remember the truth,
that through all he will guide you through.

On the day you got baptized,
I saw a beautiful black future,
Where women are not circumcised,
and blacks are not butchered,
Where education is emphasized,
easy, and free from sutures,
Where in-laws are not paralyzed,
when their daughter brings a black suitor.

“Kumbuka hii Mondala, with a song from the cabin,
mateso _ fimbonyala, is more than you can imagine,
bila _atu au ndala, a towel or a napkin,
_saa _tatu kulala, before the dogs start barking,
treated like a gorilla, what a life it has been,
Black Diamond you are and “freedom” is your calling.”
